    Gardening to Delight the Senses

    Sarah Hopps

    Sarah Hopps has always had a passion for plants and gardening. For 15 year she ran her own small nursery specialising in cottage garden plants. She writes for Garden Answers and was a regular panellist on BBC Radio York. She acts as tour guide escorting groups round the gardens of Britain & Europe but still manages to find time to tend her own garden in N. Yorkshire. Plants will be for sale after her talk.

    Geoff Hodge

    Geoff Hodge is a garden writer, author & local BBC broadcaster for Radio Cambridgeshire and Radio Essex and a question time panellist at the major Flower Shows. He is also the Trade PR Officer for the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.

    Doug Stewart

    Doug Stewart trained as a professional horticulturist working variously as cucumber & tomato lecturer, propagator & garden designer followed by 20 years in horticultural education where he was Head of Horticulture at a leading land-based college. He presents a 2 hour gardening phone in "The Great Outdoors" on BBC Radio Humberside.

    Gardening on the Menu

    Martin Fish

    Martin Fish studied horticulture at Merrist Wood College and at 21 became Head Gardener at Rufford Abbey, at the time the youngest head gardener in the country. He began writing for Garden News in the early 90's and starting in 2009 ran the Harrogate Flower Shows for 5 years. He continues to judge for Yorkshire in Bloom and is an accredited R.H.S. judge. Martin will bring plants for sale.

    Peter Williams

    Peter Williams was formerly principal lecturer at York. St. John University, he is an ecologist, plant physiologist, soil scientist & very keen gardener. We visited his super garden at Seaton Ross on one of last year’s day trips. Peter loves propagating and will bring some plants for sale.

    Good Garden Plants

    Pat Inman

    With just a passion for plants and membership of the Hardy Plant Society but no horticultural qualifications Pat was fortunate to hone her skills whilst working in 3 large private gardens in Buckinghamshire, Northumberland & Yorkshire. An opportunity then came along to study and she gained the RHS Advanced Certificate in Horticulture. For a few years before retirement Pat managed the Plant Area at two local garden centres.

    Andy McIndoe

    Andy has 35 years experience in retail & production horticulture. He is a regular contributor to magazines, newspapers & BBC Radio and author of "The Creative Shrub Garden". He lectures at home & abroad and leads numerous garden tours. At the end of 2015 he retired as M.D. for the world famous Hilliers Nurseries where he was also responsible for the Company’s exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for 25 years maintaining an unbroken record of Gold Medals.

    Stella Exley

    Stella Exley started her small nursery Hare Spring Cottage Plants in 2012, this is not open to the public but she can be found at shows & plant fairs across the region. She is devoted to Camassias and a chance meeting with Chris Beardshaw led to her growing 1500 of these plants in 2015 for his Healthy Cities Garden at Chelsea - a Gold Medal winner! Stella will have plants for sale.
